Charitable Tree surgeons in Sevenoaks
18th July 2014
Goodness me, we are already into the back half of July and it only feels like yesterday we started the month. I have the same sort of feeling every month but I suppose this month it is more noticeable having just taken a weeks holiday with Tara and the children in Provence. We stayed near the pretty port of Fréjus on the Cote d’Azur and enjoyed exploring the area with temperatures a near perfect 32 degrees every day.
Toward the bay of Cannes from l'Esterel coastal road.
That kind of heat is a different matter though when you’re working as a tree surgeon, and is exactly what the guys here have been contending with this week. With all the safety clothing and equipment we wear, it really saps your strength in such a physically demanding job and has led to delays on one or two jobs, particularly those with a ‘long drag’ between the trees and the chipper where we process the branches. I think a few cold beers waiting for them back at the yard this afternoon would go down well!
On Saturday 5th of July, St Michaels School, Otford held their biennial summer charity ball with all proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. We had a great night out and as a company, donated a team of tree surgeons for a day to the charity auction which turned out to be one of the more popular items of the night. The last time I checked, the bid on our lot was at £900 which we are really pleased to have helped raise. Once the final figures have been announced I will update in a future blog post.
Finally, after much nagging by Jay, I have invested in a Hero 3+ black edition video camera for the business. For those unfamiliar with them, they are the ones you can attach to a helmet, a bike or anything else really, even going underwater to capture action footage.
The aim is to film the more interesting work we do and then create marketing videos for our website and other media channels to better communicate the quality of service we offer our clients. Having tried some of the video editing software available I am in no doubt as to my shortcomings here and will be handing the production process over to the super talented, Sevenoaks based photographer and film editor Jannick Fjeldsoe. I thoroughly recommend taking a look at his website http://jannickfjeldsoe.com/ and the quality of this young mans work.
Have a great weekend.
