Arboricultural Association Approved Contractors for Kent & South East London
29th April 2014
Here at Trojan Tree Care, we have been Arboricultural Association Approved Contractors for almost six years now and last month we underwent our latest two yearly re inspection. It involved one of their assessors spending a (fairly intensive!) day with us auditing every part of the business from health and safety compliance to operational procedures, office systems and of course, the quality of our finished work.
This regular auditing ensures we as a company holding approved contractor status are consistently providing you the client with the high levels of service and quality they set out. The accreditation is similar to the GasSafe scheme for heating engineers or NicEic for electricians and within our industry is widely recognised as such, being a fundamental pre-requisite for the majority of local authority or large commercial contracts.
However, if you’re like most of our residential clients I’ll bet that a) you have never heard of it, and b) will have trouble pronouncing it!
The fact is, despite being 50 years old this year the Arboricultural Association represents a relatively small niche industry and just doesn’t have the marketing budget to reach out into the wider residential sector. Interestingly, at least here in the more affluent South East of the country, I would estimate that residential tree work accounts for at least half the total £ spent on tree work across the industry as a whole.
It is therefore down to us approved contractors to set an example with our quality and professionalism and trust that in time, the message continues to spread. Understandably you might assume that an AA approved contractor will always be more expensive than the guy who comes knocking at your door, but this is not the case. I can honestly tell you I have lost count of the times we have been called in to try and rectify very poor work carried out by cowboy firms where to cap it all off, it usually turns out the unsuspecting client has also been massively overcharged for the privilege!
So if you are looking to have some tree work carried out or have done so in the past and not been happy with the service you received, try your local AA approved contractors, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This link will take you to the Arboricultural Association Approved Contractors directory where you can search for local companies by area or postcode.
