Emergency tree work in Sevenoaks & beckenham as high winds arrive!

26/11/12

Within a week of our latest blog post 'Check your trees now for a trouble free winter' and cue the first winter storm which certainly kept our teams busy this weekend. Among the more interesting jobs was a call for emergency tree work in Beckenham where a 50ft Poplar tree had fallen onto a house due to almost total decay of the root system. We were on site within 2 hours of the call, much to the relief of the homeowner and found that although the crown looked perfectly healthy, the Ivy growing on the trunk had hidden the giveaway signs of a problem until it was too late.

A close call! Note the damage to tiles, soffits and guttering.

 Undetected root decay.

We also provided emergency tree surgery at Dorton House School near Sevenoaks, home of The Royal London Society for the Blind. The school has been a client of ours for several years now and in the picture below we are clearing up some large Atlas Cedar branches brought down by the winds onto a busy footpath near the main house.
